As a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Utah, Dr. Steve Burian advances water infrastructure resiliency and sustainability through research and inspires students with his passionate approach to education.

Dr. Burian is the Director of the University of Utah Water Center, the Project Director of the USAID-funded U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies (USPCASW)  in Water and the Associate Director for the Global Change and Sustainability Center at the University of Utah (GCSC). Through these leadership positions, he seeks to create and stimulate multi-disciplinary water initiatives.

His research group contributes new approaches for designing urban water infrastructure, modeling complex urban water systems, planning distributed water-energy-food systems in cities and adapting water systems facing aging infrastructure, climate change, and other challenges.

Dr. Burian is a registered Professional Engineer in Utah and maintains a consulting relationship with Harit Solutions, a firm he helped co-found in India.
